As most of you know, Pacific Pearl La Jolla’s, not for profit arm is Miraglo Foundation. It was created by Rauni Prittinen King RN and Mimi Guarneri MD in 2011 after traveling to developing countries and witnessing the basic humanitarian needs. At this time, we are focusing on two desperate humanitarian needs. Little Mohammad needs heart surgery, and the Island of Maui, Hawaii.
Mohammad was born in Afghanistan with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. Without surgery he will not survive.
The San Francisco based law office, Morgan, Lewis and Bockius LLP (which has been doing pro bono work for various humanitarian causes), contacted our Miraglo Foundation for assistance in finding a hospital and surgeon, willing to do this delicate operation.
Miraglo Foundation has been active in assisting underserved communities with healthcare and other humanitarian needs, especially in India. Sri Narayani Hospital agreed to do this surgery, but the family was unable to obtain visas to India and USA. Refusing to give up on this child, we reached out to our contacts in Bahrain and are happy to report we have the green light to proceed.
Mohammad is scheduled to have his much-needed heart surgery in the later part of September 2023, at the Mohamed Bin Khalifa Cardiac Centre, Royal Medical Services, in Awali, Kingdom of Bahrain. The pediatric cardiac surgeon is willing and able to do the surgery and the government is providing the required visas as well as funding the surgery cost.
Miraglo Foundation will provide transportation and other expenses for the family including housing, transportation food etc. Mohammad will be accompanied by his mother and father. and expected to need support for at least 3 months
Let’s make Mohammad’s surgery a reality. Please consider a donation to Miraglo Foundation on line or you can mail a check (to avoid platform charges.) 6919 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037

We thank you on behalf of Mohammad’s family
Secondly, if you have watched the news within last few days, you have seen how the horror of the beautiful vacation island of Maui, Hawaii. It is devastated by the hurricane-strength winds spreading fires, trapping residents in their homes and tourists with little or no time for warning.
There are many reliable organizations/ways to help those in need. Miraglo Foundation is directing funds directly to the island people through close friends that are healthcare providers.
Love and Blessings
Dr. Mimi , Rauni and the Miraglo Foundation Board of Directors
